The Most Beautiful Villages in the Verdon Region

The villages of the Verdon region are the epitome of the area and Haute-Provence. Perched villages, narrow, cobblestone streets, Provencal markets…They are all worth visiting and some are even essential. This is the case with Moustiers Sainte-Marie, Tourtour, Gréoux-Les-Bains, Aups or even Riez, Castellane or Colmar.
Each article will help you to prepare your visit and not miss anything in this prodigious region. Finally, we have selected activities in each village that you can book on our website.

The Provencal markets

The Provençal markets of the Verdon region are amongst the most beautiful markets in Provence. There are two reasons for this. First of all the picturesque character of the villages helps create a special atmosphere. Secondly, the variety of typical products of the Verdon’s terroirs. Here you can also find perfumes, lavender, lavandin, essential oils… not forgetting the gastronomy: goat’s cheese, honey, olives, tapenade etc…
Moreover, the local accent adds a touch of exoticism to this atmosphere. In short, don’t miss out on a visit to the Haute-Provence markets. These include the Gréoux les Bains market on Saturday morning, the Riez market on Wednesday and Saturday morning, and the night markets of Moustiers Sainte-Marie during the summer season.

Treasure Hunts

We offer games and treasure hunts to groups and companies as a way to discover the villages. The objective is twofold. On one hand, to create a team spirit as the clues often require a collective research. On the other hand, they allow groups to discover our villages and their Provencal anecdotes. To find out more, take a look at our article Your seminar or Team Building in the Gorges du Verdon.

Crafts and Gastronomy

Some of the villages in the Verdon region are famous for their gastronomy or their artisanal specialities. Moustiers Sainte-Marie is known for faience pottery, Aups is known today for the truffle Melanosporum thanks to its truffle house Lesser known but also interesting, if you are looking to get off the beaten track, is Montagnac-Montpezat – also called Montagnac La Truffe. A few years ago, the village of Aiguines inaugurated the Museum of woodturning. This speciality is still alive today thanks to the Escoulen School of woodturning. Villecroze is now famous for its caves and troglodyte houses, and Tourtour for its art galleries. Our list is not exhaustive and you will find its specialities in our various articles on the Villages of the Verdon.
