If Moustiers looks so much like a “crèche”, it is certainly thanks to the two rocky spurs that surround it and its star overlooking the village. This star sees its genesis in many legends, as well as romantic, patriotic or chivalrous. We cannot say which one is true today, but it greatly contributes to the charm of this beautiful star that will amaze children and adults alike!

The Riou waterfall, a vertiginous canyon overlooking Moustiers
Let yourself be tempted by a trip through this amazing canyon. A guide will take you above Moustiers Sainte-Marie and its chapel. Then you will dive into the water of the Riou, a small river that flows through a narrow canyon. This trip will take you through a series of refreshing reminders in several basins in a place of strange beauty. This trip requires appropriate equipment and a guide. For a family stroll, you can follow the alleys after the upper place above the church join a paved path that takes you to the foot of the last waterfall: possibility of swimming in a small natural basin of freshwater!
Should the abseiling descent of the Riou waterfall seems too difficult, you could as well opt for a little canyon convenient for families with kids (7 years old) to a few steps from Moustiers. It can be covered in a short half-day and will be in water until the end of July and sometimes in August depending on the year.
